Project Cost Controller / Scheduler
Job Description
The Project Cost Controller/Scheduler is responsible for developing and managing large, moderate to complex projects schedules and data, analyzing costs and schedule data, makes solution recommendations and leads risk analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and manages large, moderate to complex projects schedules using a corporate scheduling tool such as Primavera or Microsoft Project, and risk management tools;
- Assists project units and Project Coordinator by developing, maintaining and analyzing project cost and schedule data; prepares reports, ensuring accuracy based on data analytics and provides actionable recommendations to improve performance of project teams or specific projects;
- Uses spreadsheet, database, scheduling, and statistical software packages to analyze data, spot trends, and develop forecasts; works independently with minimal guidance by delivering analyses within agreed reporting cycles; He/She may oversee external resources ensuring conformance with projects control processes and procedures;
- Performs periodic KPI – based analysis and leads risk analysis for the team or Project Coordinator;
- Provides guidance and actionable recommendations and solutions to support project teams in delivering projects in accordance with the approved baseline schedule and within authorized budget;
- Produces regular and periodic reports to support project planning and control initiatives;
- Verifies the accuracy and reliability of cost data, ensuring that costs are correctly coded and allocated in alignment with the project budget;
- Produces reports on deviations, under-runs, over-runs, and prepares forecasts and cost trend reports within the agreed reporting timelines; reviews, evaluates and monitors trends and their impact on project budgets and provides actionable insights to ensure cost variances remain within the agreed acceptable limits;
- Regularly maintains change control and the change order register;
- Develops and updates accurate, reliable and timely progress curves for progress reporting and manages Earned Value Management (EVM) across all project stages to support informed decision-making;
- Develops an Integrated Master Schedule according to owner standards and approved scheduling tools;
- Prepares detailed and logically structured project schedules that accurately identify activity interrelationships, and critical paths with less than two (2) weeks float, and performs Critical Path Analysis to forecast potential delays, assess schedule risks and evaluate alternative scenarios to support proactive and risk-informed project execution;
- Performs Current Schedule and Cost – Earned Value (EV) and Actual Cost (AC) vs. Performance Measurement Baseline analysis and highlight deviations;
- Provides technical guidance to project personnel/s and advisory support on best scheduling practices and techniques, to ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance with project control standards;
- Ensures timely and accurate project control data with financial and performance systems to maintain data integrity and reporting reliability;
- Manages and maintain project control databases and reporting tools, ensuring that records are accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible for analysis and decision-making;
- Assists with the preparation of journal entries, as required;
- Ensures alignment of health and safety initiatives with MMCI’s broader ESG commitments; and
- Interacts and manages the team to carry out the functional tasks inherent in each individual including delegation of functional tasks and assess performance by giving and receiving feedback.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Financial Management or any other related field;
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in Project Controlling and four (4) years of experience in Construction Project Scheduling, preferably within a large-scale and heavy industry projects;
- Proficiency and experience in Primavera and/or MS Project are preferred;
- Proven experience in Processing Plants and Mining Projects is highly preferred; and
- Advanced computer literacy including operation of office automation products (e.g. Microsoft Office Project, Excel) and project reporting tools is required.

- Capable to develop presentations and produce required training to be used for internal and external resources;
- Proficient in risk management and methodology;
- Must be self-directed and proactive;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Proven ability to work in cross functional teams;
- Ability to load cost and resources into schedules and analyze project requirements and alternatives or ability to quickly learn advanced level of software skills (e.g., Microsoft Project or Primavera); and
- Working knowledge of principles and practices of Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE).
