Mine Environmental Protection and Enhancement Supervisor
Job Description
The Mine Environmental Protection and Enhancement Officer (MEPEO) will be responsible for the overall delivery of the company’s environmental performance commitments relative to the Maalinao-Caigutan-Biyog Mine project located in Brgy. Balatoc, Pasil, Kalinga Province. The Project has just received its MPSA along with other relevant environmental and social licenses/permits and is poised to proceed into early works, construction, and operations.
Specifically, s/he shall be responsible for the following:
- Act as interim forester for the mine site and carry out all the inherent functions such as preparing plans and programs for tree cutting and forest land resource management during the early stages of the project life.
- Develop and implement environmental plans and programs such as the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program (EPEP) and Final Mine Rehabilitation and/or Decommissioning Plans (FMR/DPs);
- Spearhead the planning, implementation and monitoring of environmental impact mitigating measures with respect to the mining operations and related project activities.
- Ensure that all environmental control and monitoring devices and equipment, are operating effectively and efficiently in coordination with concerned departments.
- Proactively update plans and ensure compliance with relevant environmental laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Generate/Prepare statutory and non-statutory reporting requirements of the Company and supports management decisions by providing reliable environmental data.
- Establish rapport / relationship with regulators, stakeholders and NGO’s to create a positive image for the company.
- Oversee nursery establishment and management ensuring efficient operations to effectively support rehabilitation and reforestation programs.
- Identify and implement innovations, research and development in partnership with the academe and other entities in line with project objectives.
- Manage team to carry out the functional tasks inherent to each team member.
- Ensure prudent use of resources and budget management within area of responsibility.
- Perform other relevant tasks as required by the position manager in the interest of the project, company, and in accordance with good faith
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualification:
- Licensed Mining Engineer, Geologist, Environmental Engineer, environmental science, environmental engineering, or related field
- At least 5 years of related practical experience preferably in the metallic mining industry ,
- Licensed Forester
- Sound Understanding of Related Environmental Laws and Regulations

- Excellent technical and analytical writing skills
- Ability to build rapport with various stakeholders
- Good organization and prioritization skills
- Ability to multi-task
