(3) Junior Geologist

Job Description

Under the direct supervison of the Senior Geologist, the Junior Geologist will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day drilling operations, performing geotechnical logging, conducting hydrogeological surveys, and/or managing core house operations at the project site. This role ensures that all activities adhere to company and JORC standards, with a strong focus on safety and environmental compliance.

Specifically, he/she shall be responsible for the following:

  • Follow the geotechnical and hydrogeological drilling programs and ensure outputs adhere to company and JORC standards.
  • Conduct field checks of drill hole locations, orientation, declination, safety requirements, and coordinate with field assistants and drillers (contractors) if changes are necessary.
  • Perform geotechnical logging and sampling, ensuring proper sampling protocols are implemented.
  • Gather data and monitor hydrogeological surveys, including installations of Vibrating-wire Piezometer (VwP), packer testing, multi-level standpipes, and other necessary downhole surveys.
  • Monitor daily drilling operations and validate core checker’s daily reports.
  • Conduct field checks and mapping as necessary for mine design and other geologic strategies, Ensure timely delivery of all required information for date updates.
  • Update and cross-check geologic sections.
  • Assist with daily core house operations if necessary, including detailed geological logging of drill core samples, conducting QA-QC procedures for assaying core samples, and updating the database.

Qualifications:

      • Must be a Licensed Geologist
      • At least 2-3 years of professional work experience in a similar field, (entry-level candidates with a license are encouraged to apply).
      • Basic knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering, hydrology and hydrogeology, and Geology.
      • Basic knowledge of GIS software
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office software packages operation
      • Possess a strong drive for health and safety management.
      • Strong work ethics
